For all you burgeoning moviemakers, MacFilmGimp is a free, open-source movie retouching tool to paint on or fix images. It’s been used on movie blockbusters such as Harry Potter and tbe Sorcerer’s Stone and Stuart Little, and is now available for the Mac. Before you go gung-ho crazy trying to install this, bear in mind that this is a tricky install. First, you’ll need Fink—a Unix open-source compiler for OS X—to port the files to OS X (on this disc in the Utilities folder). Second, you’l need an Internet connection: MacFilmGimp is both an installer and launcher for FilmGimp—the program will launch an available XServer to either launch or install FilmGimp (if you don’t currently have the app on your Mac). PLEASE be sure to read the installation instructions carefully—it’s tricky—just double-click the Read Me-HowTo Install.url file in the folder.
